The project team reviewed memorial bench, picnic table, and tree programs across several Canadian municipalities. The goal was to identify industry best practices and provide actionable recommendations for a commemorative program ensuring alignment with the City Facility Recognition/Commemoration Policy (2024).

The project team assessed the current location, condition, and number of park benches and picnic tables to establish a baseline service provision. Suitability modeling, using criteria such as proximity to pathways, residents, demographics, current park asset density, slope, and scenic value, revealed 125 optimal locations for new installations. The final report provides actionable recommendations to implement a sustainable bench and picnic table program for citizens.
