The City of Medicine Hat commissioned a program review to develop a memorial bench and picnic table program suitable for the current market in Medicine Hat, AB.  The program would be sustainable and align with the principles of the City of Medicine Hat Commemorative Policy (0177).  This report reviews the current state of the program, benchmarks successful practices from other Canadian municipalities, and offers actionable recommendations to update and sustain the program.

The project team assessed the current location, condition, and number of park benches and picnic tables to establish a baseline service provision. A Site Suitability model, using criteria such as proximity to pathways, residents, demographics, current park asset density, slope, and scenic value, revealed 125 optimal locations for new installations. The final report provides actionable recommendations to implement a sustainable bench and picnic table program for citizens.
